On this “Serendipity Saturday,” I am very excited to post a show where I had the honor of paying tribute to Nat King Cole.
David Williams, aka “Sammy Davis Jr., “ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100018058687136, produced an AMAZING show titled, “The Atlanta Follies Celebrates The Harlem Renaissance.” It featured an incredible cast portraying the artists of the period in full costume and character.
I was lucky to have a fan and friend, Kim Merriweather, https://www.facebook.com/kmmerriweather, who recorded the performance; however, the platform on which it was posted deleted it. I was devastated. There was no backup, so the recording and the memory were lost.
Fast-forward to last Saturday, while preparing to sing “Unforgettable” for my cousin, Bob Banks’ https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0052099/, homegoing service, and lo and behold, there is a copy of the performance! I honestly have NO IDEA how it got there. At the time, we didn’t have the matching technology needed to copy it, and the platform did not allow downloads.
Nevertheless, it seems as if one of the first deeds “Good Cuz” did when he got his angel wings was to make sure I had this show in my files!
